The San Diego Canoe Kayak Team (SDCKT) - a 501(c)(3) non profit #33-0802871 - is committed to coaching the San Diego community in the paddle sports of Olympic Canoe and Kayak, surfski, and Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP). People of all ages are encouraged to join in on the fun, as many of our members "paddle for life." Our paddlers ages range from around 7 to well into their 70’s!
Founded in 1997 by Team USA Olympic Sprint Kayaker Chris Barlow (Barcelona 1992), and joined now by Team USA Olympic Sprint Canoeist Joe Harper (Atlanta 1996), SDCKT welcomes paddlers of all skill levels and ages. We have had athletes that started with the team at 12 years old train hard and go on to represent USA at the 2004, 2008, and 2016 Olympics. SDCKT has a history of excellence in the Olympic Sport of Canoe/Kayak, and holds several National Championship titles. Many of our young athletes go on to race internationally as part of USA Canoe Kayak's Junior and Senior National Team.
Our expert coaches are certified by the International Canoe Federation (ICF) and are equipped to teach not only canoe and kayak but any type of paddlesport. Many of our coaches have competed for their country in sprint canoe or kayak at World Championship and Olympic Competitions themselves!
Our boathouse contains a full fleet of craft for all skill levels, from beginner canoes, kayaks, surf skis, spec skis, and SUPs, to Olympic canoes and kayaks, including double (C2/K2) and quad (C4/K4) canoes and kayaks.
We hope to see you on the water!
